BEING IN COMMUNITY
The church is not a place we attend—it’s a people we belong to. Following Jesus was never meant to be a solo journey. From the very beginning, God formed a community of disciples who would learn, grow, and live out His mission together.
When we regularly gather and engage with one another, something powerful happens. We are encouraged when life is hard. We are challenged to grow when we become stagnant. We are reminded of truth when we forget. In community, our faith is strengthened—not just by what we hear, but by what we see lived out in others.
Scripture is filled with the call to live this kind of life together—the “one another” commands. Love one another. Encourage one another. Bear one another’s burdens. Forgive one another. Teach and admonish one another. These aren’t optional ideas; they are the framework of what it means to be the church.
This kind of life doesn’t happen accidentally. It requires intentional, regular connection—gathering, sharing meals, opening God’s Word, praying together, and walking through both the joys and struggles of life side by side.
At Heyworth Christian Church, we believe we are made for this. We are called to be a community of apprentices of Jesus who help each other follow Him more faithfully. As we stay connected, we grow deeper in our love for God, stronger in our relationships with one another, and more effective in living out His mission in the world.
We don’t just go to church—we are the church, together.
